Granger & Co

The first Simply Char post! And where better to start than discussing a recent brunch at the wonderful Granger & Co.

Having been to the Notting Hill restaurant last year, I decided to try out the Clerkenwell branch with a couple of my girlfriends on a rather rainy Sunday morning. Set up by Australian chef, Bill Granger, this restaurant highlights the fact that Aussies do brunch very, very well…

With five of us sat around the table, there was a wide variety of dishes amongst us. Me being a hard-core avocado fan (who isn’t nowadays?!), I went for the buttery scrambled eggs and gluten-free toast with a side of the green god.

Other dishes amongst us included the chilli fried egg & bacon brioche roll with spiced mango chutney and rocket; poached eggs on toasted sourdough with avocado salsa; and the famous ricotta hotcakes with banana & honeycomb butter. Take me back now!

This was of course accompanied by a couple of rounds of white peach bellinis and spiced bloody Marys. That’s the beauty of brunch, you can have a drink even if it’s only 11 o clock in the morning…

The restaurant itself is lovely – it’s bright and spacious and the staff are very welcoming. If you’re looking for a spot to grab a guaranteed plate of Aussie goodness, this is the one.
