Last week I paid a visit to M Victoria Street to try out their lunchtime menu, and I found myself extremely impressed with the whole affair.
As I work fulltime in London, it’s such a nice treat to find somewhere that does a particularly indulgent but speedy lunch menu. Let’s be honest, sometimes you want something a little more special than a salad or sandwich from your bog-standard high-street chain.
M Victoria Street is a multifaceted venue which hosts Grill Dining Room, Raw Bar, Public and Private Members Bars, private dining, event spaces and a wine tasting room, all of which can be accessed via a particularly attractive wine store. On this occasion, my father and I visited the Grill Room, a gorgeous 120 cover, two-tiered oval dining room which specialises in the world’s best steaks.
Although I was tempted by their cocktail and wine lists, because I had to head back to work, I started off with a lovely, refreshing apple juice. I was then extremely impressed with the lunch menu itself. To start I had the mackerel with Campari, cucumber and oranges, which was absolutely delicious – so fresh and light. I then followed this with an incredible Argentinian 200g rump steak. I ordered it medium-rare and it was cooked to perfection. So cliché, but it was literally melt in the mouth. The fries on the side were equally top notch! Definitely beats eating a sandwich at my desk…
The service was absolutely wonderful and we even got to indulge in a few extra sample dishes from the chef during our time at M. If I didn’t have to return to work, it definitely would have been a very long and lazy lunch. A big thank you to the management and wait staff; it really was a fantastic foodie experience.
