The other week, I paid a visit to the newly opened branch of Joe’s Kitchen in Ludgate Hill – and it was a wonderful experience. Joe’s Kitchen pride themselves on being a fun, welcoming, casual and down to earth restaurant, and the Ludgate Hill branch has definitely achieved this.
I visited on a weekday morning before work and started off with a big pot of tea and a mixed berry smoothie. Dubbed ‘All About the Berries’, the smoothie was a blend of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and coconut milk, and was so tasty and refreshing. The coconut milk gave it a real tropical twist.
But the best part of my breakfast was by far the egg & chorizo hash. This was a great big bowl of seasoned chorizo, baby potatoes, tomato, spring onions, peppers and wilted spinach, topped with two free-range fried eggs, chives and chilli. Sounds delicious, huh? It really was! And it was also just as filling as it sounds. It genuinely kept me going till mid-afternoon.
But there were so many other dishes on the menu that grabbed my attention: red berry buttermilk pancakes, baked banana eggy bread and asparagus wrapped in bacon. I’d highly recommend checking out their menu online…
The service at Joe’s Kitchen was terrific – the staff were very attentive and extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu. Moreover, the atmosphere of the restaurant was great; it was relaxed, welcoming and homely – just what you want first thing in the morning. A real must if you’re looking for a place to enjoy a filling, delicious breakfast to kick-start your day.
